Apple TV app gains promised News section first shown in September

Those with an Apple TV have the benefit of using Siri to retrieve news content in the same way Alexa can on a newer Fire TV device. If the app hasn't been installed on your phone, tablet or Apple TV, you will be prompted to install it from the App Store.

As reported by 9to5Mac, the new app will allow users to quickly access live news content from a number of different networks - CBS, CNN, Fox, Cheddar, CNBC and Bloomberg, specifically. You can even track medals using the app and using the News widget on iPhone and iPad you can track results without launching the app.

Anyone in the United States, with the latest versions of tvOS and iOS, can view the news section on the main Watch Now page. The company is adding a new section in Apple News that will be dedicated to the Winder Olympics in Pyeongchang. The News feature now only includes US-based outlets, though this may change down the line.

The Olympics section will appear in the "For You" section, the part of Apple News where the platform delivers a more personalised set of stories based on publications and channels that you look at regularly. "The TV app shows you what to watch next and easily discover TV shows and movies from many apps in a single place".
