Looking to add to their collection of players who appeared in their pomp for Manchester club five to seven years ago, West Ham United appear to have made a decision to recruit the free agent.
The 36-year-old Frenchman arrives as a free agent, having been without a club since he left Marseille in November after kicking one of the club's fans before a Europa League match.
However that ban only applies to UEFA competitions, meaning that he would be able to sign for any side in the world and play in their domestic league and cup games. Among other English clubs interested in the France worldwide are Everton but the player is said to be keen on a move to London.
South Africa's President Jacob Zuma under mounting pressure to quit
Opposition leader Julius Malema , a former ANC member, said Mr Zuma had refused to resign at the meeting late on Sunday. In a statement on Tuesday, the Nelson Mandela Foundation said that Zuma "must go, sooner rather than later".
West Ham chairman David Sullivan gave the deal the green light despite insisting his days of signing older players were over.
Evra's contract with West Ham runs until the end of June.
Since leaving United in 2014 he'd represent Juventus and the aforementioned Marseille.

"It's fantastic to be back (in England) and I am thankful to West Ham for giving me the opportunity to do my job", Evra told the club's website.
Would you like to see Evra back in the English top flight? We will have to bring in two or three in January. They won't be old journeymen, they will be young players.
He spoke with the club's website and said: "It happened really fast".
