Dublin and Cork airports officially close their doors as Storm Emma beckons

Dublin Airport reports that airlines will suspend operations from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. local time today, with Aer Lingus and Ryanair planning to resume flights Saturday morning.

The airline has announced flights to the East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Edinburgh and Glasgow International Airport have been axed. Homeless shelters have prepared emergency transport to the welfare centre in Luton should their own facilities reach capacity.

While there will be no flights taking off or landing at Dublin Airport today, it will remain open, with snow and ice clearing crews still working, according to the Dublin Airport Authority's spokesperson Siobhan O'Donnell.

Passengers have been advised to check with their airline prior to travelling to the airport.
