According to Wilberg, Google seems to prioritize diversity in its workforce over competence, alleging that he was sacked as a result of his complaints to managers in which he states the company's "illegal and discriminatory hiring practices", pointing to management deleting emails that held content regarding various supposedly clandestine hiring choices.

In a civil lawsuit filed in January in San Mateo Superior Court, plaintiff Arne Wilberg contended that he was an exemplary employee who received positive performance evaluations "until he began opposing illegal hiring and recruiting practices at Google". YouTube, on the other hand, says Wilberg's allegations are off-base.

In his suit, Wilberg says when he started to resist such hiring efforts, his previously high performance marks started to slip, per Ars Technica; he was sacked in November.

Silicon Valley-based tech companies, chided for hiring mostly white and Asian men in technical and leadership roles, have tried to figure out ways to develop more inclusive, diverse workforces.

Ever since Google released its first transparency report in 2014, the company's efforts to diversify its overwhelmingly male, white, and Asian workforce have been criticized as too little and too late for a company founded in 1998.

These lawsuits come amid the rising debate over the efforts from the technology firms to raise the dismal numbers of women, African Americans and Hispanics in the workforce.

Google is facing diverse diversity lawsuits. Wilberg alleges that one black engineer reported that she was uncomfortable only being asked to interview black candidates. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying merely said in Beijing Friday that China urges the United States to follow trade rules. The suit claims that one Google recruiter complained that managers spoke about black people as if they were objects. Miley tweeted. "Save me the dogwhistle lawsuits and fake indignation".
