IRS Grants Extension After Website Woes

Procrastinators will have one more day to file their taxes after a glitch on the IRS's website paralyzed the system for what is typically the busiest day of the tax season.

In case it has slipped your mind, today is the deadline to file your taxes if you are a U.S. citizen.

According to The Washington Post, an internal report recently revealed that the IRS has more than 60 different IT systems, many of which have not been updated in decades. And the IRS offered no immediate solution but said the returns will be processed when feasible. The IRS took that page down shortly before 3 p.m.

Tuesday was supposed to be the final day to file 2017 tax returns.

Mike Lloyd, the chief technology officer for cybersecurity company RedSeal, speculated that the IRS outage was due in part to the increased traffic on the agency's website. In order to carry out the tasks associated with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the agency will hire 1,734 new full-time workers over the next two years.

The actress - who's been married to fellow actor Hugh Dancy , 42, since 2009 -is already a mother to 5-year-old son, Cyrus . She said they lived in the friend zone for quite a while before they got romantically involved with one another.

Members of Congress also expressed frustration with the agency's performance.

Tom Nemet, an accountant in Hamden, Connecticut, said that his software had shown the IRS system was down when he tried to send in client returns earlier Tuesday.

On the very day that Americans' taxes are due, the IRS' website is experiencing problems.

So did the system that taxpayers can use to make direct payments from their bank accounts to the IRS. "The IRS has invested significant resources in developing a series of online tools and applications, such as 'Where's My Refund?' so that those who prefer to interact with the IRS online can do so easily and securely". "We know for certain the IRS's lack of funding is compounding these kinds of problems", said Sen. It provided no further details on the cause or severity of the problem.

Tuesday's outage caught at least one White House official off guard.

Marceno said Monday that she will eventually run out of resources and fears that, in desperation, she could kill again. Police says Riess murdered Pamela Hutchinson then stole her credit cards, vehicle and assumed her identity.

Trump's top economic adviser Larry Kudlow offered a deadpan reaction when asked about the failure. The IRS said it was expecting about 15 million people to request six-month extensions. "It sounds frightful. It sounds really bad". "I hope it gets fixed".

The IRS advised taxpayers to continue to file their taxes as normal Tuesday evening - whether electronically or on paper. "TurboTax has uninterrupted service and is available and accepting e-filed returns". The firms will start submitting returns when the agency can accept them again. So what will it cost to replace the IRS' antiquated computer system? This will stop the failure to file penalties from continuing to grow. "Thus, replacing this aging IT infrastructure is a high priority for the IRS", Jeffrey Tribiano, deputy commissioner for operations support, and Silvana Gina Garza, chief information officer, wrote in prepared testimony.

The service that taxpayers use to file online was partly down throughout Tuesday morning and afternoon.

In an address to lawmakers Tuesday morning, IRS Acting Commissioner David Kautter shed more light on the issue.

But, major changes for the agency-and, perhaps, its computer systems-are on the horizon.
