Photo Terry Myerson, executive vice president of Microsoft's Windows and devices group, will be departing as part of the reorganization.

As part of the reorganization, work on Windows is set to be split up between two groups. In an email sent out to employees today (via WSJ), Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, explained that the reorganisational shift is a way to remove boundaries that "get in the way of innovation". He was also a member of Microsoft's Senior Leadership team for the past several years. "Terry has been instrumental in helping me arrive at this new organisational structure, and I deeply appreciate his leadership and insight as we've worked through the opportunity that lies ahead". More recently, Myerson supervised the launched of Windows 10, which represented a major transition for the Windows ecosystem.

Myerson's Windows and Devices Group (WDG) is being broken up.

Myerson leaves after 21 years, and nearly three years in what some have called the hardest job at Microsoft - trying to build a device business after the company exited the phone handset business, while charting the future of Windows in a world that is moving away from the client-computing model that it led. "Computing experiences are evolving to include multiple senses and are no longer bound to one device at a time but increasingly spanning many as we move from home to work and on the go". For Microsoft Devices, Panos Panay will serve as Chief Product Officer to ensure end-to-end devices business execution excellence. Alex Kipman, inventor of HoloLens and other devices, will lead a new AI Perception and Mixed Reality team that brings Microsoft's efforts in speech, vision, mixed reality and other perception capabilities under one umbrella.

The letter also lists that Jason Zander will take over as the executive VP of Microsoft Azure.

Laura Ingraham to Take 'Easter Break' from Show Amid Advertiser Boycotts
Instead she chose to accuse him of whining after he wrote that he wasn't admitted to four universities where he applied. After two advertisers pulled their support, Ingraham, claiming to be moved by "the spirit of Holy Week", apologized.

Scott Guthrie will direct a second group focused on cloud and AI technology. "This team will continue to build first-party products and the core building block cloud services for third parties on Azure", Nadella added.

Brad Anderson will continue as head of enterprise mobility and management, leading Windows Enterprise deployment and management, "with even tighter alignment across Microsoft 365, partnering closely with the EMS [enterprise mobility and security] teams within Cloud + AI Platform", Nadella says. Dubbed AI and Ethics in Engineering and Research (AETHER), the project will have the joint aims of preventing Skynet and covering Microsoft's ass from a legal standpoint.
