At a press conference later on Tuesday afternoon, Trump said he would soon meet with Defense Secretary James Mattis about the plan.

Trump has proposed using military funding to build the border wall but it's likely to face both political and legal challenges before the idea can be put into action.

Spurred on by right wing media, Trump has leapt on the "caravan" as evidence of the need for a border wall.

"I said (to Mexican officials), 'I hope you're going to tell that caravan not to get up to the border.' And I think they're doing that because, as of 12 minutes ago, it was all being broken up", he said.

Trump has privately floated the idea of funding construction of a border wall with Mexico through the U.S. military budget in conversations with advisers, two sources confirmed to CNN last week.

Turkey says will take action if militants do not leave Syria's Manbij
The presidency also said Macron was offering to mediate between Turkey and the SDF - a suggestion Erdogan dismissed. It also said France assured the Syrian Democratic Forces of its support in stabilizing northern Syria.

In early morning tweets Monday, Trump says "Congress must immediately pass Border Legislation, use Nuclear Option if necessary, to stop the massive inflow of Drugs and People".

The caravan, which is an annual event organized by the migrant assistance group Pueblos Sin Fronteras (People Without Borders) and created to raise awareness about the dangers migrants face, became a fixation for Trump after Fox News covered it on Sunday. In 2014, amid a surge of Central American families and unaccompanied children crossing the border, Rick Perry - then the Texas governor, now federal energy secretary - ordered state law enforcement officers and the National Guard to the frontier. Over the two years, more than 30 miles of fencing and 13 miles of road were built, and more than 86 miles of vehicle barriers were installed.

As the Military Times explained, previous presidents have resorted to similar measures when securing the border.

Trump ended the program a year ago, but gave Congress six months to pass legislation enshrining it.

As he walked into an Episcopal service at the Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea with wife Melania and daughter Tiffany, Trump elaborated on his position on immigration to the travelling pool of reporters.

The bad news is that Khabib will not be facing Tony Ferguson for the interim Lightweight Championship at UFC 223 on April 7. The statement that he is referencing is that Holloway would go back down in weight and defend his featherweight title.

Trump's past calls to for the "nuclear option" - changing Senate rules so that a simple majority of 51 votes is needed to advance legislation, instead of the current 60 votes - have been dismissed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Officials in 2010 said up to 1,200 National Guard troops would be in place along the US-Mexico border for up to a year to assist US Customs and Border Protection with surveillance and intelligence gathering while the agency worked to hire additional staff.

Trump appeared to take credit Tuesday for halting a caravan of about 1,100 migrants, many from Honduras, who had been marching along roadsides and train tracks in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca.

The "Stations of the Cross" caravans have been held annually in southern Mexico for about 10 years.

The "caravan" of mostly Central American migrants making its way through Mexico reportedly stopped Monday at a local park, as the marchers decide where and when to proceed. He also claimed DACA, which has provided temporary protection from deportation and work permits to hundreds of thousands of young people, is luring people to cross the border illegally, even though the program - and most proposals to replace it - have never been open to new arrivals.
