Donald Trump has pardoned Alice Johnson, a 63-year-old great grandmother serving a life sentence in prison after Kim Kardashian West advocated for her clemency during a White House meeting last week.

When asked what she's noticing now that she's outside, she said "I can't get over these phones".

The White House said Johnson "has accepted responsibility" and had been a model prisoner.

Johnson had served 21 years of her life sentence after she was convicted on multiple criminal counts related to cocaine possession in 1996.

Queen Maxima of Holland's younger sister found dead in Argentina
Queen Máxima has cancelled a string of public engagements following news of the death of her youngest sister, at the age of 33. Her body was removed from her apartment this morning and a post-mortem examination is expected to take place in due course.

Johnson, who had spent more than two decades behind bars without parole, said outside the federal prison in Aliceville, Alabama: "I'm just so thankful". "When Kim told me that I was being released, I started jumping up and screaming and crying and everyone else was crying", she said of the phone call. "Thank you for giving me another chance at life and restoring me to my family'".

Following the announcement, Kardashian took to Twitter to praise the President's "compassion" and to thank everyone who had contributed to the "countless hours" it took to free Johnson.

Trump has issued a series of high-profile pardons since taking office, including former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and, last week, conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza.

The reprieve will provide an unexpected new lifeline for Johnson, who once said that her family "told me that coming to visit me in prison is like visiting a grave site". "When you see my face, you see so many other faces that I represent".

As clemency petitions work their way through the system, the president routinely denies the "vast majority" of requests, a White House official said.

Speaking of Kardashian West, Johnson added, "Bless Kim, our little angel".

Alice Marie Johnson, the woman whose life sentence was commuted by President Trump this week, promised the commander in chief: "I will make you proud".

Cameras captured Johnson's reunion with family members Wednesday night after a van transported her outside the prison. "Her commutation is inspirational & gives hope to so many others who are also deserving of a second chance".

Nabil Fekir signing imminent
Liverpool fans can be encouraged somewhat, however, by the fact that Lyon have done exactly this before. Nabil Fekir to Liverpool is in danger of tipping into the realm of "saga".

"I just knew him from "The Apprentice" and other things and he was amusing to me", Johnson said.
