West Nile infected mosquitoes have been discovered in three different Louisville zip code areas.

Given the exceptionally wet summer, it was perhaps no surprise: The Fairfax County Health Department on August 2 announced it had identified the first reported human case of West Nile virus in the county for 2018.
Dr. Joe Anzaldua, the city's medical director and health authority, urges residents to take precautions to reduce West Nile exposure. "People over 50 years old and those with compromised immune systems are at a higher risk of becoming seriously ill if infected with the virus". However, there are some cases where the affected person may experience fever along with body aches, joint pain, headache, vomiting and diarrhoea. Since DEP first began monitoring for the virus in 2000 there have been 33 fatal cases of West Nile virus in Pennsylvania.
No cases of West Nile have been reported in people yet for 2018. People with the milder form of the illness typically recover on their own, although symptoms may last for several weeks. Most people infected show no symptoms, but approximately one in five will develop a fever along with other symptoms. Anyone with questions or concerns should contact their doctor.
