Two suspicious packages have been located by law enforcement authorities addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden, amidst a string of similar incidents that have put the United States on edge.

New York City's police commissioner says a package sent to CNN's offices in New York contained what appeared to be a live explosive and an envelope containing white powder. FBI Public Affairs Specialist Dave Fitz told CNN agents were "responding with our law enforcement partners to a US Postal facility in DE".

NBC's NY affiliate reported that the package was similar to ones sent to prominent Democrats earlier this week and was sent to a restaurant owned by actor Robert De Niro.

The discovery came after a series of glass-filled pipe bombs targeting Hillary Clinton, former president Barack Obama, other prominent Democrats and CNN were thwarted without injury.

The package was found "at the business residence of Robert De Niro", New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told NPR's David Greene.

Police stand watch near Robert De Niro's restaurant.

In a statement, De Niro's Tribeca Enterprises said the building in the high traffic area of Lower Manhattan will remain open. The bomb squad removed the package at 6:30 a.m. and transported it to the NYPD's bomb disposal facility in the Bronx, New York.

Coupled with Halloween's $14.3 million global opening gross , the slasher movie made a total $91.8 million worldwide. Damien Chazelle's space epic, which holds a $60 million price tag, dropped roughly 46 percent in its second frame.

Meanwhile, Trump hit out at the actor after De Niro - who played boxer Jake LaMotta in "Raging Bull" - criticised him at the Tony Awards earlier this year.

Trump shot back two days later on Twitter.

The exterior of one of the suspicious packages sent to multiple locations in the USA, appears in this handout photo provided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, October 24, 2018.

Similar to the one sent to former Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., the envelope was misaddressed and was being redirected to the return sender written on the mailing label, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Florida congresswoman.

The spree began Monday with a device found at the NY home of billionaire liberal donor George Soros. She says she's deeply disturbed by these packages, disturbed that it showed up and that her name has been used in all of this. "Let's get along", he said. "There's no reason to be afraid".

"It's a time of deep divisions, and we have to do everything we can to bring our country together", said Clinton, who has remained an outspoken political force despite her stunning loss to Trump in 2016.

The FBI late Wednesday confirmed that two additional packages, similar in appearance to the others, were addressed to Waters.

Trump says 'not satisfied' with Saudi explanations of Khashoggi's death
Trump was quoted in the Post over the weekend as playing down Kushner's relations with Saudi Arabia and the crown prince . Khashoggi vanished after entering the consulate to obtain documents for his upcoming marriage.

A building worker in NY called authorities around 4 a.m. about the package addressed to De Niro, an official said.

An explosive ordnance disposal team destroyed the package sent to Soros through a controlled detonation.

"The protectees did not receive the packages nor were they at risk of receiving them", it said.

According to sources, the explosive device was a PVC pipe with a timer (probably a digital alarm clock) to run the detonator. "I'm not seeing that second power source".

President Donald Trump retweeted a message from Vice President Mike Pence Wednesday, adding "I agree wholeheartedly!"

The FBI has sent those devices to the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, Virginia, for analysis.

The devices appeared to be pipe bombs, said Bryan Paamann, FBI special agent in charge of the counterterrorism division in NY. Now, the Federal Bureau of Investigation itself says that all of the explosive devices were mailed in these identical bubble-wrapped envelopes.
