Kiedis was sitting along the baseline near one of the baskets when Paul was being walked off the floor.

Following the game, fellow Chili Peppers bandmate Flea took to Instagram to address the events that unfolded during the heated game, writing, "It got insane at the end, but man I get so satisfied, deeply drinking in the depth and beauty of the game".

Flea posted about the incident on Instagram, but with a positive spin: "At the lakers game last night with my dear brother".

"Nah. All I cared about what trying to get the thing over with, so we could get back to the game", James said.

Special teams issues doom Bears against Patriots
To make things worse, in the second quarter they lost their leading rusher, rookie running back Sony Michel, to a knee injury. With Gronkowski out against the Bears, he came up big-time in a game where they really needed him to be a big-play weapon.

Kiedis was definitely operating at a high level, and technical a middle finger to somebody's face is unspoken communication, but we're guessing he doesn't ever want to feel like he did that day again. A Lakers spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Lakers players disputed that and reported that the team had reviewed video and saw no spit, either accidental or deliberate.

The NBA confirmed that Rondo spit in Paul's face and was suspended for "instigating a physical altercation with, and spitting and throwing multiple punches at Paul". Ingram, Rondo and Paul were ejected and can expect heavy fines as well as possible suspensions.

Houston coach Mike D'Antoni disagreed with the severity of Paul's penalty compared to that given to the Lakers players.

Los Angeles Lakers' Brandon Ingram was suspended for four games while teammate Rajon Rondo was suspended for three games.

Initially, the Brandon Ingram of the Lakers and James Harden of the Rockets began a confrontation following a hard foul by Ingram on Harden. But after the fourth quarter's saliva-launching, eye-poking, punch-throwing fracas, Kiedis got a little too passionate in support of his hometown team. "Take a punch in the face and then, 'That's OK?'"

Paul and Rondo both left the court nearly immediately following the skirmish. The Rockets went on to win the game 124-115, further spoiling James' home debut with the Lakers.

James Harden led all scorers with 36 for Houston while Paul, who was thrown out of the game, added 28 markers and 10 assists.
