A year ago anyone suggesting that in 365 days Urban Meyer would retire as Ohio State's football coach and be replaced by a 39-year-old assistant coach with three games of experience as a head coach would have been called insane and possibly drug tested.

I think Meyer leaving will be a good thing for the MI football program in the long run.

Meyer also said knowing assistant coach Ryan Day would be his successor made the decision easier. He said the move needed to be made before the early signing period opens on December 19.

"We have enjoyed an incredible run".

Ukraine: Shipping traffic resumes following Russia standoff
Poroshenko has said he tried to arrange a phone call with Putin to discuss the standoff but faced the Kremlin's refusal. Poroshenko said Monday that reservists will be summoned for training as part of martial law.

"When recruits started asking me if I will be here in four or five years", Meyer said during a press conference about factors that pushed him toward making a decision.

Added current Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst of Meyer, "Obviously I have a lot of respect for what he's done". Meyer recorded his second flawless 12-0 season. Given the trend toward finding offensive coaches, Day may have been in demand for coaching staffs that will be compiled in a matter of weeks.

After seven years and a national championship at Ohio State, the 54-year-old Meyer will formally announce his departure today at a news conference. It will help in recruiting and it could even help on the field as early as next season.

"It was interesting because I've never had him as a head coach, so my first thought was, 'I wonder how this will work out?' but I definitely think he can do it", Murphy said when Day was named interim earlier this year.

The team alternated expected blowout wins with puzzling play that included a pair of one-point wins (Penn State, Maryland) and a closer-than-expected win over a struggling Nebraska team. I've written many times he is the most disingenuous coach I've ever covered as a sports writer. Those 17 prospects made up the smallest class Meyer signed in all of his 15 years between Utah, Florida and Ohio State.

A month ago, it seemed as if Haskins might benefit from another year at Ohio State to develop further and chase a playoff bid.

Other than an National Basketball Association championship in 2016, there hasn't been much to cheer for in Cleveland over the years. OSU has won outright or shared seven division titles, three Big Ten championships and one national championship. And so when he steps down at Ohio State, this is very different.

It appeared to be a dream job for the Toledo native.

The company didn't expound upon this other than to say that it will bring "next level gaming" to a new generation of smartphones. It's promising to run through the specifics of the mobile platform tomorrow, on the second day of its Snapdragon Summit 2018.

My answer to these questions is based on the fact that I covered two of the greatest college football coaches in history - Meyer and Steve Spurrier - when they were at the University of Florida.
