The Academy Awards Will Air with No Host This Year

An Oscars broadcast with no specific host has only happened once before in the ceremony's history.

Although it looked like Kevin Hart might be invited back to host the awards, The Academy seems to be getting rid of the role altogether, for the first time in 30 years. "I get criticized enough", he said, then joked, "Well that's what 40 years of marriage is".

Kevin Hart hit Good Morning America today and sat down with Michael Strahan to discuss his new movie, the ongoing controversy surrounding his comments about the LGBTQ community and if he'll host the Oscars.

"If you didn't [hear the apology], I don't know what you're looking for", he continued. In my mind I got the job, it was a dream job, and things came up that simply prohibited it from happening. "I didn't say these words to people, at the time, this was our dumb a-- on Twitter going back and forth with each other", he mused.

"I'm over it. There's no more conversation about it ..."

'You know what, if they give me the call, I would do it, ' the comedian said. "I apologize." ("Straight From the Hart")"I really had to dive into the whole thing, even the tweets", Hart explained.

"We are a huge group of people who love you and want to see you host the Oscars", DeGeneres shared.

The Oscars drama comes at a pretty awkward time for Kevin, seeing as he's on the promo trail for his new film The Upside, in which he stars as an ex-convict who is hired by a millionaire quadriplegic (played by Bryan Cranston).

Moreover, show organisers and Consumer Technology Association alleged that this product is obscene, indecent and immoral. We don't know when the billboard in question appeared, but it's clear that it's aimed at CES attendees and exhibitors.

The comedian appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last week where he addressed the backlash to his tweets, calling it "a malicious attack" to end his career.

"I say I'm done with it". We thought it was okay to talk like that, because that's how we talked to one another. He accused critics of "jumping on the bandwagon" instead of actually examining Hart himself (who then went on to identify people he regularly interacts with that are members of the LGBTQ community).

With a little less than six weeks to find a replacement for the February 24 show, the Academy has chose to nix a host altogether, according to a report by Variety. It keeps going and every headline is "you apologized"...
