MT Joins Egg Recall List
Deb Courson
Montana has now joined the list of states hit by the egg recall because of risks of a salmonella infection. Initial investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) traced contaminated eggs to just a few large-scale operations in Iowa, although recalled eggs distributed in Montana came from Minnesota.
Patty Lovera, assistant director of Food and Water Watch, says the scope of the recall makes it the largest in history. She is concerned that consolidated, crowded, warehouse-type production led to the unhealthy conditions that allowed salmonella to thrive.
Wolf Parasite Fatal to Humans
Alveolar Echinococcosis (al-VEE-oh-ler ee-keye-ni-kah-KOH-sis )
What is Alveolar Echinococcosis (AE)?
AE disease results from being infected with the larval stage of Echinococcus multilocularis, a microscopic tapeworm (1-4 millimeters) found in foxes, coyotes, wolves, dogs, and cats. Although human cases are rare, infection in humans causes parasitic tumors to form in the liver, and, less commonly, the lungs, brain, and other organs. If left untreated, infection with AE can be fatal.
8th Grade All American Golf Carnival and Hook and Ladder Drop Huge Success
By Kathy House
The 8th grade class and their parents would like to thank everyone who supported their recent fundraising efforts. Eighteen teams gathered Friday, August 20th to participate in the All American 4 person golf scramble and witness the Hook and Ladder drop. Fun! Fun! Fun! was had by all, with participants encountering a variety of “carnival” games and fundraisers along their 18 hole trek.
The tourney was “kicked off” with the exciting hook and ladder ball drop. With the help of the local fire department and their 85 foot ladder truck, over 500 golf balls were poured from the ladder onto the 9th fairway. The winning ball, purchased by Cathy Ainsworth, landed directly in the middle of the target and she was declared the lucky winner of the $500.00! Cathy graciously donated the cash back to the 8th grade DC fund and we thank her and Walter for their wonderful generosity! Also we want to thank all of you who took a chance and purchased a golf ball(s) to support this fundraiser. And of course, the Fire Department for their time and effort with the ladder truck.
Is The U.S. Government Wolf Experiment A Costly and Disastrous Failure?
Sportsmen Taking Charge of Predator Problems

What many environmentalists have been claiming to be a “true conservation success story” is now showing its very negative side.
Amongst extreme controversy, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service kicked off the Wolf Recovery Project of the Northern Rockies back in 1995 with the release of the first wolves to set foot in the Greater Yellowstone Area in more than 50 years. Or, so that agency claimed. And so began the conflict between residents of the region and a number of environmental “wolf friendly” advocacy groups.
